Photography

Photography is the science, practice, and art of making long-lasting images by capturing light, either chemically or electronically using a light-sensitive substance like photographic film or an image sensor. It is used in numerous industries, including manufacturing (such as photolithography) and business, in addition to its more obvious applications in the arts, film and video production, leisure activities, hobbies, and mass communication.

It is the art of capturing light with a camera, usually via a digital sensor or film, to create an image. With the right camera equipment, you can even photograph wavelengths of light invisible to the human eye, including UV, infrared, and radio.

The light reflected or transmitted from objects is often focused using a lens to create a genuine image on the light-sensitive surface within a camera during a timed exposure. An electrical charge is generated at each pixel of an electronic image sensor, which is then processed electronically and saved in a digital image file for further display or processing. Photographic emulsion produces an invisible latent image that, depending on the use of the photographic material and the processing technique, is later chemically “developed” into a visible image, either negative or positive. By utilising an enlarger or contact printing, a negative picture on the film is traditionally utilised to make a positive image, or print, on the paper.
